Dalton Ghetti

These sculptures were made by Dalton Ghetti, carved out of the tip of lead pencils. It amazes me to look at these and think about how delicate they are and considering the size of the tip of a pencil, how painstaking it must be to create these tiny wonders.
This is a quote from the website  pencil revolution.

Aesthetic Apperatus

Aesthetic Apparatus are among some of my favourite poster designers. Founded in 1998 by Dan Ibarra & Michael Byzewski, in Minneapolis, Wisconsin, Aesthetic Apperatus was initially a mere side project away from Dan & Michaels 'real jobs'. In 2002 the boys decided to make Aesthetic Apperatus a fully fledged, full time design studio.
I love the posters these guys make. Using silk screening they produce posters in a range of styles, some of favourites are their music posters, which they make in limited editions, and which have a bit of cult status among collectors. I really like the way they overlay flat areas of colour and shape, and in some, their mix of photographic and illustrated elements.

Angelique Houtkamp

Angelique Houtkamp is a contemporary Dutch Artist/ Tattoo artist. These images are from her book 'TATTOO DARLING' which was published in 2009. Using watercolour, pen, and ink, Angelique's works on paper are heavily influenced by old school tattoo styles. I love her work because i'm a sucker for vintage styled anything, and i really like her quirky and imaginative subject matter. Much of her inspiration comes from 1920's  circus freaks and sailor culture. I like that her work is feminine but gutsy as well, and that her pieces translate just as well on paper as they do on skin.

What is graphic design?

Graphic Design is how us humble humans make sense of our world. It directs and informs our every move, without us even noticing. Even these words that i'm typing were born out someones clever idea to make letters out of shapes, someones idea to visually express a spoken word. In our contemporary world Graphic Design is our trusted leader, we refer to it to help us identify and understand the big bad world. Some People say God is everywhere, i say say Graphic Design is everywhere.
